Christan Van Slyke As Cover Story Interview – March 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m Christan van Slyke, an award-winning, multi-optioned screenwriter, mom, and wife, based in Texas. I write real, raw, character-driven stories that I work hard to ensure inspire, challenge, and encourage audiences to reflect on love, life, and what makes us human.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

Like many creatives, I’ve faced continual financial challenges over the years and also the uncertainty of finding my place in a competitive industry is ongoing. Those struggles continue to teach me perseverance, shaping my voice, and deepening my empathy. These are all lessons I try bring to every story I write.

What do people usually not know about you?

Most people don’t know I earned a Master Screenwriting Certification in 2010, have been a staff screenwriter for seven production companies, and have anonymously judged screenplays for numerous film festivals over the years. My award-winning holiday romcom, Curbside Service, was featured at the 2023 Festival de Cannes and is now actively being pitched for funding. My strong Christian faith drives me to remain bold, courageous, and to encourage others along the way.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is that I don’t shy away from the raw, honest, and vulnerable, where others might cut away or play it safe. I write stories that allow for real, in-depth connections, creating characters and moments audiences see themselves in and carry with them long after the story ends. My work is fearless, relatable, and unapologetically human, and I bring that same energy and dedication to every collaboration best I can.

What are your upcoming major events?

I’m actively pitching several award-winning projects: my holiday romcom Curbside Service, the indie romcom The Gotaways, post-apocalyptic, thriller,  The Silent Rebellion, and the dark comedy post-apocalyptic romcom hybrid End It On This, set to star Anna Stadler. We are currently gearing up for production on a proof of concept for our upcoming romantic dramedy Reclaim & Rescued with All Dog Entertainment, directed by Gustavo Peña and starring Sandra Elaine and Eric-Lee Olsen. I also have the upcoming release of our romantic drama feature, In the Cards, starring Lauren Marie, Frankie Galvez and Joseph Boehm. Beyond these, I have many other projects in various stages of development and numerous award-winning feature scripts available for option, all focused on bold, character-driven storytelling. Always open to thoughtful industry conversations.

What expert advice would you like to give?

My advice is to be thoughtful and intentional about who you collaborate with. Do your research, ensure everyone on board is aligned with the vision and goals, and everyone prioritizes honesty and integrity at every stage. Strong partnerships built on trust and clear communication are essential for creating meaningful, successful work.
