Cesilia was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online Magazine and below is the Q&A session we had with Cesilia.
Cesilia As Cover Story Interview – May 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I introduce myself as Cesilia, and my last names are always changing, even within my drag family, so I consider them optional. Technically, my full name is Cesilia De La Rosa BeatChu, but I’m flexible with how I’m referred to. As a performer, I’ve learned to be adaptable and go by whatever name or title feels most fitting for the moment. My identity is complex, and I’m still figuring out who I am and what I represent.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Growing up, my biological dad wasn’t a significant part of my life, and my mom went through custody battles, which meant I had to navigate between two households. This experience was tough as a kid, but I’m grateful for the resilience it taught me. Luckily, my mom remarried, and I have a great relationship with both of my parents now. I’ve learned to appreciate the importance of family and the value of strong relationships.
What do people usually not know about you?
People don’t know how multifaceted I am – I’m a huge anime and horror fan, and I used to ride horses and take care of animals all my life. Related to drag, I have a range of skills, including sewing, doing hair, makeup, and special effects. I’m a creative person with many interests, and I love exploring different passions and hobbies. My drag persona is just one aspect of my life, and I’m excited to share more about myself with others.
What sets you apart from others?
Related to the previous question, I’m a chameleon and easily adapt to my environment. I’m game for any theme or gig, and I’m always up for a challenge. My versatility and willingness to take risks set me apart from others, and I’m proud of my ability to think on my feet and come up with creative solutions. Whether it’s drag, fashion, or another area of my life, I’m always looking for ways to push boundaries and try new things.
What are your upcoming major events?
Other than my weekly gigs, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be getting my bachelor’s degree in fashion design soon, as I’m currently enrolled in ASU FIDM. This is a significant milestone for me, and I’m looking forward to applying my skills and knowledge in the fashion industry. I’m eager to see where my education takes me and how I can use my degree to pursue my passions. I’m grateful for the opportunity to invest in my future and develop my craft.
What expert advice would you like to give?
As someone who’s learned a lot of skills, I just want to tell people to start – you’re never going to have more time than you did yesterday to do a project or learn a new skill. Closed mouths don’t get fed, and still legs don’t get you places. I’m a firm believer in taking action and being proactive, rather than waiting for the perfect moment or until you feel ready. By taking the first step, you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve.
Your social media handles and website links?
The only important one is my Instagram and TikTok, both @cesilia_dlr, where I share updates about my life, drag, and passions. I love connecting with others and sharing my experiences, and I’m grateful for the community that’s formed around my social media presence. If you want to stay up-to-date on my latest projects and adventures, follow me on social media – I’d love to connect with you! I’m always looking for new ways to engage with my audience and share my creativity.
