Cece Ivory As Cover Celebrity – January 2025 Edition
How do you introduce yourself to our readers?
To many, I’m known as Cece Ivory, The Black Butterfly, or Your Favorite Publicist. I’m a devoted mother of three beautiful children, an award-winning publicist, a TV and music video producer, photographer, actress, and event/media host. Over the past eight years, I’ve navigated the entertainment and public relations industries with great success.
Childhood to Adulthood: Describe your transition from childhood to adulthood. What are some notable experiences, challenges, or achievements that stand out?
My childhood was different from beginning to end andmy transition from childhood to adulthood happened faster than most. As a child, I was super intelligent, consistently earning all A’s in elementary school and receiving numerous academic awards. However, I was also very sheltered. My grandmother raised me from the age of three until I was 12. She was deeply rooted in her religion and the Pentecostal church, which limited my exposure to the real world.
When my grandmother passed away, my life shifted dramatically. At 13, my mom re-entered my life (along with my 5 brothers), and by 14, we moved to a housing project called “BTown.”
Adjusting to this new environment was tough, and my sheltered upbringing made it even harder to fit in. My curiosity about this unfamiliar world led me down a troublesome path. By 16, I had a criminal record and was on my way to becoming a teen mom.
Expelled from high school in my junior year, I found salvation at the Boys and Girls Club. The staff poured into me, teaching me life skills, public speaking, networking, career planning, and money management, which ultimately paved the way for my career as a publicist. At 17, I became a mom, and that responsibility gave me purpose. Though I had to earn my GED and navigate life with limited resources, those struggles taught me the importance of resilience and responsibility.
Struggle: What hardships have you faced in life, and how did you overcome them?
I’ve faced unbelievable hardships. I was born during the crack epidemic of the ’80s to parents battling addiction and was raised by my maternal grandparents. After losing my grandmother, life became even more challenging. One of the major challenges I faced was transitioning into adulthood as a single parent.
Raising two daughters on my own without financial, emotional, or physical support from their father was particularly hard. However, I’ve always been a fighter. Every day, I choose to wake up and be better than the day before. My faith, my children, my mom, my dad, my 6 brothers, my support system, and the prayers of my grandmothers, Alice and Geraldine, have been my sources of strength. Through God’s grace and my unwavering determination, I’ve overcome every obstacle life has thrown my way.
What’s something people usually don’t know about you?
That’s a great question. I’m an open book, so most people know a lot about me. However, one thing many don’t know is that I write poetry. It’s been a passion of mine since childhood. Before social media existed, poetry was my escape and a way to process my reality.
What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?
Simply put, being authentically me. I’ve been a “dot connector” my entire life, and as a publicist, I thrive on helping others achieve their dreams. What truly sets me apart is my genuine heart. I didn’t enter this industry just to make money—I wanted to help people grace stages and pages they once only dreamed of.
In 2024, I became a two-time award-winning publicist, but my success goes beyond accolades. It’s reflected in the accomplishments of my clients, who have soared thanks to the strategies I’ve crafted. My extensive network and top-tier communication skills are other key factors that distinguish me from the competition.
What are your upcoming major events, projects, or releases?
2025 is already shaping up to be an exciting year! I’ll be featured in a new film,Love Me Not, directed by Lynn Tate and Pete Driver, which is set to release later this year. Additionally, my new YouTube channel will debut in March 2025, offering a behind-the-scenes look at my life with my three children and my career in the entertainment industry.
For my clients, 2025 is the year to go big or go home. We have a lineup of incredible events and projects planned. To stay updated, I encourage readers to follow me on Instagram for all the exciting details.
Share your food preferences and physical attributes (e.g., height, hair color, etc.), if you’re comfortable doing so.
I love Mexican food and hibachi, but if I had to choose one, it would be hibachi—specifically from Miyako’s, my favorite restaurant. My favorite artist of all time is Lil Wayne, and one day, I plan to produce a project for him—mark my words. My favorite color is black, and my favorite movie is Carlito’s Way.
Would you like to share anything about your love life, relationships, or family?
I can share that I love my children wholeheartedly! They are my heart in human form—beautiful, intelligent, talented, and charismatic. They bring so much light into my life, and I’m constantly in awe of the amazing individuals they are becoming. My children are my greatest joy, my source of strength, and my daily motivation to keep pushing forward. In fact, they are the reason I became a photographer. I always wanted them to have memories of every stage of their lives, something I never had. I thank God for them every single day because they are truly my lifesavers.
What expert advice or words of wisdom would you like to share with our readers?
No matter how your story begins, every chapter is an opportunity for a plot twist. You can start over as many times as needed and still win your race. Never stop dreaming or believing in yourself. Your life is yours, so you have the power to change it.
