Slide To Read More Pages of The MagazineHow do you introduce yourself?
Caryn Rebecca Barclay. Pronounced…Car – rin. Not Kar-ren…. Haha. I am new to being a model. But mostly, I am doing it to empower other women to succeed without perfection, and to support a self love, growth mindset. I’m all about working hard to enjoy a peaceful life.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I’ve been a single mother since my daughter was 18months old. She will be in high school next year. She has been my underlying rock of support. Over the years, I have had medical issues. I was born with a fractured spine. Undiagnosed until I was 30 years old. I now live with a disjointed L5-S1. A condition known as Spondylolisthesis. I have osteoporosis. A hiatus hernia, IBS and survived having cancerous lumps removed from my bowels last year. Despite all this, I have given everything in my life a go.
What do people usually not know about you?
My age. I’m going to be turning 40 in April 2026. Most people get confused with me looking a lot younger. I come from a French/Mauritius, English/Australian background. I have been riding horses since I was 4yrs old. I was a jockey with Victoria racing. I worked hospitality serving lunch and coffee at channel 10, with the TV show “Neighbours” and “Rove live”. I was an aged care, home and community nurse. I work for myself as a professional house cleaner. I’ve met the man from Snowy River, Tom Burlingson. Camped with wild horses. Been sky diving over Torquay in Melbourne, went on a hot air balloon ride. Plus many more activities, that I should never have been able to enjoy with my conditions. But mostly I’m proud of being a mum to my daughter.
What sets you apart from others?
I love a mostly technology free lifestyle. I grew up eating wild raspberries in fields, riding horses for hours on end, across the Yarra valley. I enjoy home cooked meals and reading books. I cherish every small moment made with good people. My gratitude is for the simplicity.
What are your upcoming major events ?
I have a few secret projects planned coming in 2026. You’ll have to wait and see.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Be yourself. No one wants a copy. Be authentically you. If you haven’t already, Learn to love yourself and be kind with yourself. Positive talk inside your head only. Give things a go. You’ll either smash it to success or you will learn what you need to do It better next time. Growth mindset.
