Brian Martinez was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online Magazine and below is the Q&A session we had with him.

How do you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am courageous, a man of honesty and respect with a generous heart.

Describe your transition from childhood to adulthood. What are some notable experiences, challenges, or achievements that stand out?

I come from a place where I saw the hardships my parents faced growing up as both parents were immigrants from the Philippines. My family was not broken, but like most families nothing was perfect and no matter the challenges and setbacks my parents faced, the family bond was always there and the values they taught me makes me who I am today. As a kid, in sixth grade, I was immediately admitted to the hospital due to a ruptured appendix.

I was really sick when I was literally crawling to the bathroom because of the excruciating pain that the ER doctor mis-diagnosed as a stomach flu the night before and sent me home. I could have died. After an emergency surgery and recovery, I was released a week later and was back in the hospital the following week with surgery again because my intestines were twisted. I was hospitalized for a month with a $500K hospital bill that my parents received thereafter.

While growing up, I faced my own challenges and looked upon others like the “bad guy” or “racially profiled” like I was going to cause harm…steal… that I simply was not going to achieve some success in life. So that is why I’m a person who’s committed to doing so well, committed to success, not settling for less. My ultimate purpose and destiny in life is to help kids with cancer and help others where I can as my way of giving back bc I still remember what it was like being in that hospital bed when I was a kid. SCC is my vehicle to help me achieve my ultimate purpose in life.

What’s something people usually don’t know about you?

Something people usually don’t know about me is that I like to design and build things. Pretty handy I’d say. Whether it’s designing a backyard space or interior type design like remodeling a home I enjoy putting my time and effort and see the vision come to life.

From design to actually doing the heavy lifting like the physical work like installing a whole new floor, installing lighting to landscaping, I can get it done. Also, I enjoy cooking up a feast whether it’s grilling a tomahawk steak or smoking some brisket with a side of my fluffy mashed potatoes made from scratch. I will feed you well. Last but not least, I love fast cars and always wanted to be a race car driver. With that, I can also be your mechanic as I enjoy working on cars.

What expert advice or words of wisdom would you like to share with our readers?

Show up and be your authentic self no matter what. Sometimes we want things to happen so quickly that we lose sight of who we are as an individual and our ultimate purpose in life. Always go back to your why because it’s the sole reason why you started this journey.

There will be people that will discourage you and try to talk you out of it so don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. Those people have just given up on themselves and their dreams. You know in your heart that you have a purpose to fill so keep going even when it feels impossible. The payoff my friend, will be so worth it.
