Aljona Yakimenko As Cover Story Interview – May 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Aljona Yakimenko, I was born in Eastern Ukraine but moved to Budapest, Hungary when I was 3. I am an actress and aspire to work in this field, but I did a lot of different jobs over the years (HR, Tour Guide, Translator, Graphic Designer…). Acting is my greatest passion which has been part of my life for many years, but I started to focus on it more professionally last year. I am also a HUGE fan of all animals.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

It was hard for my family to start out in Hungary back in the days and there were times where I had to sleep at my mom’s job because we had no place to stay. My own struggles – the current situation in my birth country affects a big part of my family so I am affected as well, but we are trying to focus on the positive things and treat the situation with a comical attitude, otherwise you just cannot survive. It is crazy what situations people get used to, but this is life and all you can do is do your best and face towards the future.

What do people usually not know about you?

I am a very multi-facated person. I want to do so many different things and have knowledge of as many things as possible. I am also a huge overthinker, which may affect several days of my life even if in the end it turns out that I had nothing to worry about.

What sets you apart from your competitors in the industry and in life?

I try not to compare myself to ‘competitors’ which is not always working, but considering I am not a big name, I do believe that I will get to the top of the industry and I do not plan on ever giving up. The acting world fascinated me since my very childhood and that is what I want my life to be. I do believe that all people are different, and especially in the acting world the bigger question is how much of themselves the individuals are able to convey through their acting. I believe my life and my efforts will show a personality and results that will be exciting for the viewers to watch.

What are your upcoming major events?

We wrapped up the filming of ‘The Final Frame’ by József Gallai which is a Found Footage Horror movie, the trailer for which will drop soon, also we already have a few horror projects for the near future which I am REALLY excited about.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Very cliché, but never give up! As I said, I have been in the industry for many years and there were countless obstacles – money, place of living, not perfect English dialect, no useful contacts, no training. But if you keep on going, you start to meet all the amazing people who you can learn from, who can introduce you to teachers, advise some dialect coaches and so on…
