Cuban Kandy As Cover Story Interview – October 2026 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

My name is Cuban Kandy. I’m an independent recording artist, actress, entrepreneur, model, entertainer, and a woman of many talents.

I was born in Yonkers, New York, and moved to Brooklyn in 2017. I’ve been living in Brooklyn for nine years now, so I definitely represent both Yonkers and Brooklyn. Both places are part of my story and have influenced the woman I am today.

I started taking my music career seriously in 2021, and since then, I’ve been working toward building my name and establishing myself as an independent artist.

I’ve always been somebody who believes in creating my own opportunities instead of waiting for somebody to give me one. From making music and performing to acting, modeling, organizing events, fashion, and building businesses, I’ve always had a passion for doing different things.

I don’t believe in putting myself in one box. I have multiple talents, multiple interests, and a lot of goals that I plan on accomplishing.

I’m a Yonkers-born, Brooklyn-based artist who’s determined to make her mark in entertainment and business.

I’m not just trying to make a name for myself. I’m building a brand, an empire, and a legacy. And the best part is, I’m just getting started!

Struggle — What hardships have you gone through in life?

I’ve experienced a lot of challenges throughout my life, including setbacks, disappointments, lost opportunities, and situations that forced me to start over.

One of my biggest challenges was being incarcerated for 17 months. Coming home and having to rebuild my life wasn’t easy. I had to readjust to society, get myself organized, and figure out how to move forward while still pursuing my dreams.

But one thing about me is that I’ve never been the type to give up on myself.

My experiences have taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of making better decisions. I’ve learned that sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan, but that doesn’t mean you stop trying.

I refuse to allow my past to define who I am or what I’m capable of becoming.

Everybody has a story, and mine is still being written. I’m focused on making the next chapters of my life even better than the last.

What do people usually not know about you?

One thing I really want people to understand is that I’m a completely independent artist.

I don’t have a major record label behind me, a big management team, or somebody funding my career. Everything you see me doing, I’m investing in myself.

From my music and music videos to performances, photoshoots, events, and business ventures, I’m putting my own money, time, energy, and resources into making things happen.

I have a small circle of people who genuinely support me, believe in my vision, and help me throughout the process. I’m extremely grateful for them because having genuine support means more to me than having a whole bunch of people around who don’t believe in what I’m building.

A lot of people see the finished product, but they don’t see the planning, sacrifices, expenses, and challenges that happen behind the scenes.

Something else people may not know is that I have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I’m passionate about helping others, especially people who have experienced hardships, homelessness, or involvement with the justice system.

I’m not just an artist. I’m a businesswoman, an actress, a creative, and somebody who has a lot of different goals.

I’m building everything from the ground up, and I’m proud of that.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is that I’m unapologetically myself.

I’m not trying to compete with anybody or be the next version of somebody else. I’m focused on becoming the best version of Cuban Kandy.

I’m ambitious, creative, versatile, and willing to take chances on myself.

Being an independent artist has taught me how to invest in myself, build relationships, organize projects, and turn my ideas into reality.

I’m not waiting for a record label, investor, or anybody else to give me an opportunity. I’m creating my own.

I don’t believe you have to limit yourself to one career or one dream. You can be an artist, actress, entrepreneur, entertainer, and still have goals outside of those industries.

I’ve also experienced real-life struggles, and I think that gives me a different perspective. I know what it’s like to have opportunities, lose them, and have to rebuild.

I’m not afraid to start over, reinvent myself, or take a different direction when necessary.

My journey is my own, and that’s what makes me different.

What are your upcoming major events?

I have a lot of exciting things going on right now, and I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next!

On October 15th, I’ll be hitting the stage for another live performance. Then, on October 20th, I’ll be making a special guest appearance at Daze Summit in Brooklyn, New York.

As far as music, I’ve been working! The music video for “Group Chat,” my collaboration with Haze and Haze, was recently released. My music videos for “Big Cuban” and “Be Like Me” are also out now, so make sure y’all tap in!

I’m also getting ready to drop my latest single very soon. I have a few other exciting projects and opportunities in the works, but I don’t want to say too much just yet. Just know I’m working behind the scenes, and there’s definitely more coming!

I’m also excited about my acting career. I’m part of the series Western Girls, where I play the character Anna Lana. Episode one is currently available on OG Network and Roku TV, with the series also expected to be released on Tubi and YouTube soon.

Acting is another passion of mine, and I’m excited for people to see a different side of Cuban Kandy on screen.

Outside of music and acting, I’m thinking about rebranding my online clothing boutique and bringing it back with a fresh look, new styles, and a bigger vision.

Fashion has always been another passion of mine, and I want to put more energy into building that business.

I’m also continuing to build my entertainment and event-planning brand, Kandy 247 Events, while working toward expanding my overall business empire.

Eventually, I want to explore even more opportunities in beauty, fashion, acting, modeling, and other business industries.

I’m focused on being more consistent, expanding my audience, creating opportunities, and showing people all the different sides of Cuban Kandy.

Whether it’s music, acting, fashion, business, or entertainment, I’m not limiting myself to just one thing.

Tap in with Cuban Kandy on all platforms because you never know what I’m dropping or popping out at next!

What expert advice would you like to give?

My biggest advice is to never give up on yourself, regardless of what you’ve been through.

Everybody has a different journey, and you can’t compare your life to somebody else’s timeline.

Sometimes you’re going to make mistakes. Sometimes things aren’t going to work out the way you planned. You might even have to start your life over more than once.

But that doesn’t mean your story is over.

I’ve learned that you can’t control everything that happens in life, but you can control how you respond, the decisions you make moving forward, and how much effort you’re willing to put into changing your circumstances.

Stop waiting for everybody to support you or understand your vision. Believe in yourself enough to get started, even if you have to do it alone.

And don’t let your age, your past, or other people’s opinions discourage you from pursuing your dreams.

Most importantly, enjoy your journey. Life is too short to spend it worrying about things you can’t control.
