How do you introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Nicolette, but most people know me as Nikki Sweets. I consider myself an artist in every sense of the word—musically, creatively, and artistically. I have an extreme passion for creating, and I’m constantly finding new ways to express myself and bring the ideas in my head to life.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

I’ve experienced many hardships throughout my life, but I’ve always tried my best not to let them define me. My struggles began in childhood and continued into adulthood. I was forced to mature very early and, honestly, didn’t get the opportunity to experience much of a normal childhood. I’ve dealt with different forms of abuse and trauma, and those experiences have followed me into adulthood.

But I believe that what happened to me is a part of my story, not the entirety of who I am. I’m still learning, growing, healing, and working on myself every single day.

What do people usually not know about you?

A lot of people assume I’m an extremely social person, probably because of the people I’ve met, the different spaces I’ve been in, and my previous occupations and accomplishments. The truth is, I’m actually a bit of a loner. My phone hardly rings, and I can probably count on one hand the number of people I would genuinely consider close friends.

I’m very comfortable in my own company, and there’s a lot more solitude behind the person people see publicly than they probably realize.

What sets you apart from others?

My determination to turn my dreams into reality. I’ve had a very clear vision of the life I wanted and the things I wanted to accomplish since I was a child. Even when life gave me plenty of reasons to give up, I continued to believe that my circumstances didn’t have to determine my future.

I’ve manifested so many positive things in my life that, considering where I started, sometimes even I have to step back and realize how far I’ve come. I think my ability to keep dreaming, creating, and moving forward despite everything I’ve experienced is what sets me apart.

What are your upcoming major events?

I have a few things I’m currently working on. I’m preparing to release another musical project where I’m experimenting with different styles and sounds and allowing myself to explore creatively.

I’m also working toward a potential art show, as well as another social experience that combines my love for cooking with networking and bringing people together. I’m really interested in creating experiences that allow different parts of my creativity to exist in the same space.

What expert advice would you like to give?

Don’t give up on yourself. Life can become incredibly difficult, and there will be moments when giving up feels easier than continuing. But those moments don’t define the rest of your story.

Keep going, even if you have to move slowly. Keep believing in yourself, even when other people don’t. You owe it to yourself to see what your life can become.
