Léa Carat

Léa Carat is a French singer, composer, and writer whose international journey has taken her from Paris to San Francisco, London, and Luxembourg, shaping a rich creative perspective reflected in her music. A lifelong musician who began with classical piano before embracing guitar and songwriting, she channels personal experiences, resilience, and authenticity into her artistic work. Having navigated challenges such as divorce, entrepreneurship, and raising a child with unique needs, Léa has remained committed to independently building her creative career while continually refining her craft. This summer, she will bring her heartfelt storytelling to audiences at the Festival d’Avignon, where her intimate performance promises to showcase the passion and perseverance that define her artistic journey.

How do you introduce yourself?

I’m Léa Carat—a French Singer, Composer, and Writer. My life has been quite international: I’ve lived in Paris, San Francisco, London, and Luxembourg. I grew up in Paris, starting classical piano at a young age, and later took up guitar. I’m passionate about creativity: I design jewelry, but I especially love sharing life stories through my music.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

I’ve gone through various challenges—like a divorce and raising a child who needed a different approach. I’ve always been independent, managing and self-financing my projects. Let’s say I’ve experienced the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. I’ve also been active in networks supporting female entrepreneurs. As a self-taught creative, I continuously work to refine my skills.

What do people usually not know about you?

I’m generally open and authentic, so people often know a lot about me. Many parts of my life are shared through the songs I write.

What sets you apart from others?

I’d say my creativity and the focused, private time I dedicate to my projects. To move projects forward, you need unwavering focus. For instance, getting music out there is tough. I work constantly, but I’m a perfectionist—I prefer slow and steady progress.

What are your upcoming major events ?

I’m preparing a show at the Festival d’Avignon this summer—my songs along with works by French artists, accompanied by Jacques Boutineau on piano. It’ll be intimate, unlike the larger set I performed in Paris. This setting lets the audience connect deeply with the lyrics. Avignon is an incredible cultural stage, and I’m honored to be invited this year.

What expert advice would you like to give?

My advice: stay open and follow your passions. Listen to that inner voice and believe in yourself. Step by step, you’ll get there!
