Dr. Stéphane Narcis As Cover Story Interview – April 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I am Dr Stéphane Narcis, and if I had to define myself in one sentence, I would say that I am a bridge between cultures, disciplines, and human experiences. I was born and raised in Saint-Pierre, on the island of Réunion, a place where African, European, Indian, and Creole influences coexist in a unique harmony. Growing up in such an environment naturally shaped my identity and my curiosity about the world, people, and how we communicate and understand each other. Today, I am a Distinguished Professor in Media and Communication, holding a PhD in Film Studies, but I am also much more than that. I am a pageant titleholder, an eduator, an author, a life coach, a nonverbal communication specialist, and above all, someone deeply committed to personal transformation and human connection. Everything I do is driven by one purpose: helping people reconnect with their authenticity, understand their value, and realise that they are capable of much more than they think. This deeper motivation informs every chapter of my journey including those marked by challenge.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
My journey has not been linear: it has been layered, complex, and at times, deeply challenging.
One of the earliest struggles I faced was a sense of not fully belonging. Being different: in the way I think, express myself, or approach life often meant navigating environments where I did not always fit into predefined expectations. That feeling followed me into my academic journey as well. Studying abroad in the United Kingdom was both an incredible opportunity and a difficult challenge. Financial constraints, isolation, and the pressure to succeed created moments of doubt. There were times when I had to rely entirely on my own resilience to move forward. But perhaps the most transformative challenges came from my personal life. I experienced emotional manipulation within a relationship situations where reality was questioned, truths were denied, and I was made to doubt my own perceptions. This kind of experience is deeply disorienting, and unfortunately, many people go through it silently.
However, instead of allowing those experiences to define me, I chose to learn from them. I immersed myself in studying nonverbal communication, behavioural analysis, and lie detection, not just academically, but practically. I wanted to understand human behaviour more deeply. That vulnerability became a strength. Now, I use that knowledge to help others recognise manipulation, rebuild confidence, and reclaim their voices. These experiences not only shaped who I am—they also reveal what people may not immediately see about me.
What do people usually not know about you?
People often see the confident, composed version of me; the one who speaks, performs, teaches, and represents on international platforms. Yet within, I carry a freedom and simplicity. For instance, I can dance anywhere. Literally anywhere. Whether it’s in an airport, on a boat, in my room, or walking down the street with my headphones on, I allow myself to be fully present in that moment. For me, dance is not performance; it is liberation. It is joy. It is a connection with life itself. Some people might find it surprising, but I genuinely don’t care about judgment in those moments. And, interestingly, people often smile, laugh, or feel inspired to let go as well.
At the same time, I am deeply introspective. I spend a lot of time reflecting, analysing, and observing. Even in conversations, I rarely react immediately; I listen, I process, and I think before I respond. There is a duality: expressive and introspective, visible and reflective. That balance shapes who I am. This sense of integration also defines what truly sets me apart from others.
What sets you apart from others?
What truly sets me apart is my ability to unite all my pursuits under one clear vision. Most people choose one path. I chose to build several and align them. I work at the intersection of academia, pageantry, communication, and transformation writing research, speaking on stage, coaching, or creating empowering content. But beyond that, authenticity is my foundation. I do not believe in creating a persona to fit expectations. I believe in embodying truth. People can feel authenticity; it cannot be replicated.
I am driven by a global vision to merge knowledge, visibility, and transformation redefining masculinity through emotional intelligence, purpose, and leadership. Building on this expansive vision, I’m excited to share my forthcoming projects.
What are your upcoming major events?
My next step is participating in the Mr Businessman international online pageant, which represents a natural evolution in my journey combining leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial vision.
At the same time, I am preparing to step onto a physical international pageant stage, selecting platforms that align with my values and long-term vision. Beyond competitions, I am developing my online academy in collaboration with the International Civility Trainers’ Consortium (ICTC). This academy will offer accredited programs in nonverbal communication, lie detection, life coaching, and communication skills designed to provide practical tools for real-life situations.
Creatively, I continue to expand Vibe by Stéphane, a movement-based concept where dance becomes a form of therapy, confidence-building, and emotional expression. In parallel, I am writing new books in English and French, focusing on personal transformation, emotional resilience, and recovery from toxic relationships. I am also continuing my research, publishing academic articles on media, identity, and representation. The future for me is about multidimensional growth and impact, not just one path. With these opportunities ahead, I hope to inspire others through both action and advice.
What expert advice would you like to give?
If there is one skill that can transform your life, it is learning how to truly listen. Most people listen to respond. Very few listen to understand. What someone says is only a fraction of what they actually mean. Behind words lie emotions, intentions, fears, and unspoken truths. Through my work, I have seen how asking the right questions and guiding someone through reflection can unlock awareness. Sometimes, people already have the answers within them—they just need someone to help them see it. So my advice is this: listen deeper, observe more, and never underestimate the power of awareness.
