Augusto Sosa As Cover Story Interview – April 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I usually start with my name, Augusto Sosa, and then I often have to explain how to pronounce it properly. I was born in Argentina and moved to New Zealand at the end of 2012, where I lived until 2025. Since I was a young kid, I always knew I wanted to be “in the movies.” At that time, I didn’t know in what capacity, but I knew I wanted to be part of that world. Life, however, has its own rhythm, and I didn’t begin seriously pursuing that dream until 2022, when I enrolled at South Seas Drama School in New Zealand. Since then, I have had the privilege of being on major film sets and collaborating with incredibly talented artists and wonderful people. Life experiences have shaped me and taught me valuable lessons that I now bring into my work as an artist. If I had to summarize it simply, I would say I am an actor who is still actively working toward his dreams.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
There have been many struggles along the way, and it would be difficult to list them all. One of them is that I consider myself a bit of a “late bloomer” when it comes to starting my career. For many years I didn’t have the support of my family, and that created an internal conflict between what I truly wanted to pursue and what I felt I was supposed to do. Another significant challenge has been language. Spanish is my first language, and reaching the level of English I have today required a great deal of time and effort. In fact, I never formally studied English, most of what I know is self-taught. Today, I see all of these challenges as part of my journey. Every experience I’ve had has shaped who I am, and I’m learning to embrace that. Everything I’ve lived through has brought me to this point, and I feel that the journey is only halfway through.
What do people usually not know about you?
People are often surprised by the range of experiences I have had and the places I have worked. I have had the opportunity to be on the sets of productions such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, M3GAN, Evil Dead Rise, and Spartacus: House of Ashur, among others. What many people also don’t realize is that my involvement in filmmaking goes beyond acting. I have directed, produced, and worked in several roles behind the camera as well. From the outside, some may think these opportunities came suddenly or easily, but in reality every achievement requires an immense amount of dedication, patience, and persistence.
What sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets any artist apart is their unique life experience. No one else can be me because no one else has lived my life. Every place I have been, every job I have had, every person I have met has contributed to who I am today. Those experiences become part of my creative voice, whether in acting, writing, or storytelling. That personal history is what gives my work its authenticity. In many ways, that individuality is the true signature each artist brings to their craft.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’m currently very excited about two projects I have been developing. I recently finished writing a short film as well as a web series, and I’m now in the process of assembling the teams that will help bring these stories to life. The web series is particularly close to my heart. I have been developing it for about a year, and the next step is to produce the pilot episode. Once that’s completed, the goal is to present it to audiences and explore its future possibilities.
What expert advice would you like to give?
If there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that every person is on their own journey. No matter what path you choose, your story will be different from everyone else’s. Because of that, I believe it’s important not to compare yourself with others. Progress looks different for everyone. With consistency, hard work, and honesty toward your craft, it is possible to move closer to your goals and dreams. There are no shortcuts, but the journey itself is part of what makes it worthwhile.
