How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Amaya J, and I’m an actress, singer, content creator, and all-around entertainer. I’m passionate about storytelling, whether that’s on stage, on screen, or through digital media. I love using my personality and creativity to connect with people and bring energy, humor, and authenticity to everything I do.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Struggle can look different for everyone. For me, one of the biggest challenges was moving from St. Louis, Missouri to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams in entertainment. When you come from a place where most people follow more traditional career paths, chasing a creative dream can make people look at you differently.
There are also real challenges that come with building a life in a new city—finding the right survival job, getting on your feet financially, and staying focused when things don’t happen overnight. But those experiences helped shape me into someone who is resilient and determined. They taught me to trust my vision and keep pushing forward even when others may not fully understand it.
What do people usually not know about you?
A lot of people don’t realize that I’m actually very introverted and quiet by nature. Because I perform and create content, people assume I’m always outgoing, but I’m really a homebody. I enjoy my quiet time and being around people I trust and feel comfortable with.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is my drive and authenticity. I’m extremely ambitious and hardworking, and I’m not afraid to go after the things I want in life.
I’m also someone who believes in creating my own opportunities. Along with acting, I’ve built a presence as a content creator covering entertainment, world news, and sports, which allows me to connect with a wide audience while continuing to pursue my career in film, television, and theater. I believe in using every platform available to tell stories and entertain people.
What are your upcoming major events?
Currently, I’m performing in The Color Purple at the Chromolume Theater in Los Angeles, where I play the role of Squeak. The show runs from March 13th through March 29th, and it’s an incredible experience to be part of such a powerful and meaningful story.
In addition to theater, I continue to create content across my social media platforms, where I share entertainment news and commentary with my audience.
What expert advice would you like to give?
My advice is simple: don’t let anything stop you from pursuing your dreams. There will always be obstacles—people who doubt you, moments of heartbreak, or days when you question yourself. But those moments don’t define your future.
Stay focused, keep working, and most importantly, keep your faith. I believe strongly in prayer and trusting God’s timing, because what is meant for you will always find its way to you if you stay consistent and believe in yourself.
