How do you introduce yourself?
“Hi, My name is Irene Keene. What’s yours?” If someone asks me what I do for a living, I tell them that I do a few things: I’m a Realtor in Madison, CT with Coldwell Banker Realty (I’ve been selling real estate since 2002). I’m a professional actor and model and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA. Since 2018 I’ve reported on beauty, lifestyle and popular culture as an “influencer” across social media platforms, primarily on Instagram and TikTok. Lastly, I have a background in public relations; currently I handle publicity for my husband, exhibiting artist Don Keene.
What hardships did you face in your life?
Mercifully I haven’t experienced any extreme struggles other than the ups and downs associated with being a “gig worker”.
What is something people usually not know about you?
Unless you know me well, you will be unaware that I’m the author of a celebrity cookbook: Love and Dishes – The Soap Opera Cookbook: Scene-Stealing Recipes from Your Favorite Soap Stars (Hearst Books, New York). The book was released in time for Valentine’s Day 1996 – 30 years ago!
What sets you apart from others?
I’m fiercely loyal to those whom I care about.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’ll be supporting my husband, Don, at a solo art exhibit that opens Wednesday, February 18th, at Evergreen Woods (a 55+ residential community) in Branford, CT.
What would be your Expert Advice?
No matter what you do in life professionally or personally, always – ALWAYS – adhere to “The Golden Rule”. I believe it’s the only way any of us can look at ourselves in the mirror at night.
