DonnaKelli Barnett (DK Barnett) was recently interviewed by TheCelebrity.Online Magazine and here is the Q&A session we had with DonnaKelli.
DonnaKelli Barnett As Cover Story Interview – February 2026 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
DonnaKelli… but on-set most cast and crew use my nickname “DK”.
What hardships did you face in your life?
I don’t like to think I had more struggles in life than any of us..my family was not wealthy but we were not poor. I’m one of 5 children..we grew up in a home with 1 bathroom and 3 bedrooms but it was full of love, my sister and I still talk about remembering it as some kind of mansion. We couldn’t afford university so I attended community and State schools. I have a BA and Masters degrees, not in the arts however.
What’s something people usually not know about you?
They don’t know how passionate and sensitive I can be,also that my Profession was one I chose because it was a major challenge. I was in law enforcement most of my adult life from Black and white to Detective and undercover work. After retiring I contracted for work outside of CONTUS. Was pulled into acting after showing up at an audition for a major film.
What sets you apart from others?
My background as an undercover Detective and training, I draw on decades of experience for most auditions or roles and being on-set is something that makes me feel alive.
What are your upcoming major events?
A film I was part of “Goldmine” is being released later this month (Feb.2026), it was written and directed by Matthew Marder and Adam Cohen. It’s a western with a little sci-fi. I may be doing a short series for Writer Director Scott Travis in which I would play an Attorney/Agent in 1980’s Hollywood.
What expert advice would you like to give?
I’m always learning and trying expand my abilities, Expert…LOL…the best advice is have patience and don’t let others discourage your dreams, just because you don’t get the role you auditioned for does not mean you failed, if you did your best then you were just not right for the role in Casting, Directors, producers opinions. It’s the writers art and they may see things we don’t as actors…which is why a good director is wonderful.
