Fabien Fauzou As Cover Story Interview – November 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Fabien Fauzou, a Mauritian fashion designer, 15 years in the game of fashion. My work is rooted in simplicity, elegance, and identity. I design garments that speak softly but carry meaning—each piece is an extension of our culture, our values, and our stories.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Like many creatives, I’ve faced moments of doubt—especially in a small market where fashion is often seen as luxury, not necessity. Building a brand with integrity, without compromising on quality or ethics, has been a long journey. But every challenge has shaped my vision.
What do people usually not know about you?
I’m deeply introverted. While my work is public, my process is quiet and personal. I spend hours refining details that most people won’t notice—but I believe that’s where the soul of a garment lives.
What sets you apart from others?
I don’t chase trends. I design with intention. My collections are minimalist, but they carry depth—through fabric, cut, and silence. What also sets me apart is that I do the pattern making and sewing myself. I believe that understanding the garment from sketch to stitch gives it integrity. I also collaborate with local artisans and support youth training in couture, because fashion should uplift, not just impress.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’m organizing Couture for a Cause, which will take place on December 6, 2025, at the Institut Francais de Maurice. For this event, I’m designing and sewing the entire collection myself. It’s a project rooted in purpose—raising funds for Caritas and Ti Rayons Soleil, two NGOs supporting children in need. I’ve been approached by a makeup artist school to collaborate, and all models are volunteering their time. The event will also be covered by a local photographer and videographer. It’s a collective effort built on creativity, inclusion, and solidarity.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Stay true to your vision. In fashion, it’s easy to get lost in noise. But authenticity lasts. Whether you’re designing, styling, or modeling—know why you’re doing it. That clarity will guide you through everything else.
