How do you introduce yourself?
My name is Tara Shor, and I’m a licensed esthetician specializing in acne, acne scar revision, and anti-aging. I’m the owner of Shorrbeauty in Orange County, where I’ve built a results-driven skincare practice focused on helping people regain confidence in their skin.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
I’ve gone through my own journey with insecurity and self-doubt, especially when it came to appearance and self-worth. Building a business from the ground up in the beauty industry wasn’t easy. I’ve experienced burnout, financial pressure, and moments where I questioned everything. But every challenge shaped me into the strong, compassionate woman and entrepreneur I am today.
What do people usually not know about you?
I was born in Iran and moved to the U.S. when I was 10. Before coming here, I lived as a refugee in Turkey for a year. Those early experiences taught me strength and gratitude. They’re also the reason I work so hard. Every day, I strive to prove to my parents that their sacrifice and decision to start over in a new country was worth it. Everything I’ve become is because of where I started.
What sets you apart from others?
I don’t just treat skin, I treat people. My approach is not only clinical and results-driven, but also emotional. My treatment room is a safe space. I’m honest, direct, and deeply invested in everyone I work with. I genuinely care about healing inside and out.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’m currently helping beginner estheticians build their clientele by offering them the opportunity to use a treatment room in my office. It’s my way of giving back to the industry that changed my life. I’m also planning to host educational workshops to help new esties grow both in skill and confidence.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Stop comparing your journey — with skincare, business, or life. Consistency is more powerful than perfection. Take care of your skin like you take care of your mindset: with patience, discipline, and love.
