How do you introduce yourself?
I’m Jayde Martinez, a solo traveler, content creator, and author of Beyond Success by Jayde Martinez. I’ve been to 56 countries, 39 of them solo, and I use my platform Beyond Tourist Travel to show people the real side of travel. Not just the touristy highlights, but the culture, the food, the adventure, the history, and the lessons that come with it. My mission is to inspire people, especially women, to step out, trust God, and experience the world boldly — even if it means doing it scared.
Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?
Truth is, my journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve dealt with the loss of loved ones, health struggles, and moments where I had to rebuild my life from scratch. Being a veteran also brought physical and emotional battles that shaped my resilience. I’ve wrestled with self-expression too, learning to unlearn old patterns and find my voice again. But every hardship has made me who I am. By God’s grace, I’ve turned my pain into purpose and strengthened my faith and discipline. Through my travels, my book, and my content, I show that God can use even the hardest seasons for something greater.
What do people usually not know about you?
People see my travel content and assume it’s always glamorous, but most don’t know I usually travel with just a carry-on backpack, choosing hostels, local buses, and mom-and-pop spots over luxury. Another thing most don’t realize is that my faith is the foundation of everything I do. Even though my content focuses on travel, behind the scenes I’m deeply rooted in my walk with Christ, and that shapes how I approach life, relationships, and business. That’s what keeps me grounded no matter what country I’m in.
What sets you apart from others?
I bring perspective. Anybody can post pretty travel photos, but I focus on the connection with people, with culture, and with faith. I’ll take you beyond the surface and show you stories that matter, highlighting culture, history, Afro-diaspora influences, and the raw honesty of what travel is really like. I don’t just showcase destinations; I showcase the deeper connections with locals, culture, and the personal growth that comes from solo travel. My Bronx upbringing, military discipline, worldwide solo travels, and faith-driven resilience all shape the way I see and share the world. That mix makes my content stand out in an industry that often feels repetitive. Aside from social media, I’m also an author. Writing Beyond Success gave me another way to connect deeply and share my journey in a raw, transparent way.
What are your upcoming major events?
I’m expanding Beyond Tourist Travel with curated trips. After successful experiences in Brazil and Kenya, I’m planning new offerings across the Caribbean and Africa. I’m also growing my YouTube channel, where I’ll be releasing a series focused on cultural immersion, solo travel tips, and hidden gems most people overlook. On top of that, I’m continuing collaborations with tourism companies and building partnerships with brands that align with my vision. Everything I’m working on now is about growth, impact, and building community through travel.
What expert advice would you like to give?
Stop waiting for the “perfect time” — it doesn’t exist. Whether it’s traveling, starting over, or chasing a dream, you’ll never feel fully ready. Courage grows when you take the first step. For travel specifically: you don’t need a huge budget or a big group to begin. Travel light, start small, and focus on experiences over things. And always remember: protect your peace, trust your instincts, and let God ordain your steps.
