Lindsay Goulding As Cover Story Interview – May 2025 Magazine Edition
How do you introduce yourself?
Hey! I’m Lindsay — a 26-year-old Kiwi girl who’s lived in 5 countries and 7 cities. I’ve worn a lot of hats: chef, barista, bartender, receptionist, waitress — and now I’m a social media manager at a fintech company in London.
Growing up in small-town New Zealand, I was obsessed with the idea of the world beyond. Watching movies set in NYC, London, and Europe sparked this big dream in me to go explore it all for myself. Even as a kid, I loved storytelling. I’d steal my dad’s camera, film myself dancing around the farm, then teach myself to edit in Windows Movie Maker. That creative spark never left. Once I started traveling and living abroad solo, I began vlogging everything — not just for others, but so I could always look back at the journey.
What struggles have you faced in life?
I was kicked out of home on my 18th birthday, which pushed me to move to Australia alone. Starting full-time work so young felt like I was skipping over my youth. Later, I moved to Canada and worked at ski resorts for two years, lots of fun, partying and snowboarding but also lots of figuring things out on my own.
When I moved to a small town in Ireland, COVID hit. I got stuck there for 8 months with no way to fly home. Eventually, I made it back to New Zealand, then back to Australia — all while planning my next big move to London. Since being in London, I’ve been fired on the spot twice, which left me totally broke and clinging to my dream of building a life and career here. But I didn’t give up, I always kept the vision alive, living in London & travelling Europe.
What’s something people don’t usually know about you?
I share a lot of my life online, so not much is hidden, but one thing people often don’t know is that I have a tattoo on my right ribcage of my brother’s name. He passed away when he was just one year old, before I got the chance to meet him. I have four older brothers, but only three are still alive. I never take family for granted, and I promised myself I’d live life to the fullest, not just for me, but for him too.
What sets you apart from others in your industry and in life?
What makes me different is how real I am. I’m a Kiwi living in London, travelling the world, and I don’t sugarcoat anything. I share the highs, but I also show the lows — the struggles, failures, and messy in-betweens. There’s no filter. Just me, taking people along for the real ride.
Any upcoming moments, projects, or things to promote?
I am going to be hosting a travel group trip for new travellers to Portugal in the first week of September, where I will bring a lot of new solo travellers together and we go surfing in Portugal for a week with me. Hopefully a lot of trips through Europe, as last year I was spending all summer trying to stay afloat between jobs and being unemployed. I also have a media business which I do freelance videography/photography/ social media management services. @linzblog_media (on instagram)

What’s your best piece of advice?
Live your life to the absolute fullest. So many people wait until they have a certain amount of money, land a perfect job, or buy a house before they start travelling or chasing their dream, but time isn’t guaranteed. I’ve seen people close to me miss their moment because they waited too long for the “right time.” Go now. You can figure things out along the way.
Where can people find you online?
