Aïsha Tamisha Jolicoeur As Cover Story Interview – October 2025 Magazine Edition

How do you introduce yourself?

Aïsha Tamisha Jolicoeur, Actress and Independent Film Producer.

Struggle – What hardships have you gone through in life?

I come from a mono-parental household. My mom was always running to get things done as she was mom and dad. Seeing that shaped me into the woman I am today. Things will get done; no excuses! I’ve gone through my fair share of hardships-you know, being a black woman in a society that wants you to stay dead last and afraid of your own potential-but I don’t let that define nor stop me. I know what I’m capable of and that is striving for excellence.

What do people usually not know about you?

I used to do precision shooting during my time in the Canadian Royal Air Cadets when I was a teenager!

What sets you apart from others?

Perhaps my abnormally big ambitions, like some would describe, ahaha! Honestly, I’d say it’s the determination to succeed. When the pandemic hit, there was no productions going on, so I made my own. My knowledge of how a production works in front of the camera and behind the scenes is one of my most valuable assets in this industry.

What are your upcoming major events?

So, the feature film NAVYN directed by Desrick Walcott, which was my first contracted producer’s job back in late 2021, just received its first official selection and nomination at the TINFF and is currently making it’s way into the festival circuit. Catch it in a film festival near you before it’s gone and sold! I am also working on a project in development in which I am writing, producing and starring in. It’s a short psychological drama with thrilling elements. Think the mystery of The Others meets the cinematography style of Jordan Peele in a film like Get Out. I am currently thinking about the best director for the job as well as applying for funding.

What expert advice would you like to give?

For my actors, waiting for the perfect role is great, but how about you create that opportunity yourself? And for my fellow filmmakers, just make the damn film! Someone is gonna love it!
